We've Been Busy

Decorating, of course!
Festive! Very festive! I mean, the entire house should look ...ummm.... Christmasy???
My 5 year old did this. Not sure why. Not sure I should ask. Should I be worried? First it's our own toilet, next thing you know it's the neighbor's yard? Maybe she has a career? Boy am I in trouble!

What better way....

to start a Sunday morning, than to let all of the chickens out right before it's time to leave for church?
Exactly what my 8 year old did yesterday morning. I watched as all of the chickens just marched right out of the open door. The rooster was so proud standing there on the front lawn...
Speaking of 8 year olds, we'll have two of them for a month starting Wednesday! Yes... "Little Joe" will be turning 8... and "The absent minded professor" (the one who let the chickens out) will not be nine until November.

Our New Home

We're finally moved in to our new home and connected to the world wide web once again. YAY! I'm going to try to be a better blogger now. The house came with a few extras... a garden full of veggies (my brother proclaimed that I reap what I did not sow!), some chickens (we're getting five eggs a day!), and a cute little doggie....

Okay, so she's not little, but she really is cute!

Speaking of cute little doggies, anywear and I are working on some matching sets for boy and dog....

Our first set... the dino boy and his dino dog soon to appear on etsy. Whadda ya think?

What happens when mama tweets!

Hulk Baby helps herself to TWO donuts!

She's very proud of herself. Don't worry. She's now sitting in her high chair with a SINGLE donut.... hmmm.... Mama might have to eat the other.

It's been a while

since we've had a clear enough day to take these pics. Very unusual for these parts. These pictures are for my new friend Yvonne over at WoodenNickels who wants to come and be my nanny! We'd love to have you! :)
My camera doesn't take the best scenery pictures, but these were taken standing on my back porch....

Sorry to make you jealous, but I think you should know that it was a dark chocolate cake with cream cheese filling (and chocolate chips, of course) topped with my gradmother's chocolate frosting. Best kind of cake. EVER.

Highly Influenced

I know children are highly influenced by what they see on TV. My kids are no exception... well, actually, my kids ARE the exception to the rule. They're soooo influenced that they have a hard time distingushing between what they've seen on TV and real life. But... that's what you get when your oldest lives in an alternate universe.
Soooo...
These kids have a Silly Songs video with a cucumber and a tomato... I'm sure you all know who we're talking about. Supposed to be a positive influence on kids, right? One of the lines in one of the songs is, "Well, I've never bathed in yogurt....."

Oh, please don't give my kids any ideas! They have enough ideas of their own.
Who do you think would be the one to try out such a "wonderful" idea?

Of course, the one year old! See! Even at a year old - highly influenced!

At least she's ladylike with the pinky up and all.

I must admit, she does look good with a mustache... don't ya think?

Happy 4th Big Guy!

Sunday was this big guy's birthday!

an early morning conversation:

mom: good morning! what's today?
boy: my BIRTHDAY!
boy proceeds to tell all siblings as they trickle from rooms: it's my BIRTHDAY!
mom to boy: now that you're 4 you're a big boy.....
boy w/ shocked and surprised look on face: I'M FOUR???!!!!

who could have known that birthdays and changes in age happened at the same time? EXCITING!

and here's the big guy just after blowing out his candles. i missed the actual event. it all happened so quickly. i don't believe i've ever seen a kid blow out candles with such ease!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG GUY! WE LOVE YOU!

Twenty Years From Now...

The story will change.

Today: Mom. Can I cut the lawn now?

Then it'll be: My parents MADE me cut the lawn every. single. day. And I HAD to use a lawnmower that DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A MOTOR. Uphill. Both ways.... in the snow....

What does one wear?

To a TEA PARTY?

Jeans and a Tee Shirt. Right? Right? Sigh.... okay, so I wore a skirt and a nice looking fatbelly shirt.... reluctently, you know. My husband smiled when he said, "You have to dress up for a tea party, right?" Ahh. The smirk on his face.

The girls gladly put on their prettiest dresses and hats.

The even gladly tried on other hats - such as this silver one...

All the ladies put on their beautiful hats.
The hat on the left won first prize for the best hat.
(my cousin, who is sporting some earrings from her etsy shop anywear)

I voted for the hat. It really was the most umm... interesting... hat there. I would never wear the hat, but I did wear one. You will NOT see a picture of me in the hat, though. Sorry. I didn't take a picture of myself. Hey. I wore the hat. Don't you think that's torture enough for one tea party?
Note: most of the hats belong to the lady standing in the background... she brought 28 hats to share.

I really did have a nice time. Visited with some very nice ladies (so what if I'm related to them), drank plenty of tea, ate tooooo much sugar, and stayed way too long.... and I wore the hat the whole time.
Go ahead. Laugh, Terry... but you weren't there to get a picture. ;P

Meet Hulk Baby

or....
Why Mama Never Gets Anything Done.

See the baby in the beautiful ladybug cocoon in my banner? Yeah. Her. Innocent looking enough. That was when she was a few days old.

This is the same baby quite a few months later. Still a wonderful model. I mean, who could resist those little elf ears?

Here she is today. Still very innocent looking. And still a beautiful model. We tuck the elf ears under the basset hound hat, and you'd never know that under all that cuteness lies....

the hulk thighs!

Here's her two year old sister wearing the same size diaper... holding her down. Keeping her calm... Please don't turn green. Please don't turn green.

What did you say? You're going to cook dinner?

You mean you're not going to hold me? I'll spill my milk out on the floor. Just watch me....

Good thing the two year old sister's ready at a moment's notice to save the world from the raging Hulkbaby!
