wow!

i'm such a blog slacker! i haven't posted in forever. sorry.
we've been quite busy around here lately. trips to visit the fam over the fourth, trips down to see the progress on our new house**, visits with my parents and my sister, and don't forget....

gotta find time in our busy schedule to paint our toe nails.

**yes! we're having a house built for us. it's a dream come true! i can't believe it! and they actually started building it last week! :)

Here they are...

the promised pictures of baby in her new hat from gramma harv! we had sunshine yesterday - YAY! a perfect setting for some nice pictures with natural light. do you know how hard it is to get a picture of an infant without the shadow of loving siblings? placing a baby in the sunlight is like putting a piece of candy in front of them.... only better! :) anyway, here's what we got:

*she* wasn't too happy about the sun shining in her eyes! but that's what you get when you live in seattle... sunlight is a foreign thing!

there was much excitement in the house when the package arrived with THREE new hats. one for our baby, one for our friend's little boy who is just a few days younger, and one for....

the almost three year old in the house who thinks that everything is a hat! unfortunately, baby was sleeping, so she'll have to wait to try on her hat. but for the young lad... well, he ran around the house shouting, "i am the king! i am the king!"

thanks, gramma harv, for the crown :)

A few new favorites

Last night while my kiddos were snuggled in their beds and my hubby was learning a new song on his guitar, I was *shopping*! Here's what I came up with....

This
upcycled storybook pillow. Who can resist the beauty of that bird? Visit ravenwren's shop for so many more beautiful things!

On the lines of upcycled we have this...

flip flop jeans blanket.
Check out AudreysCountryCrafts and receive a set of SIX blank note cards with your order!

And this is just cool...

A camera zipper pouch
! Visit kaylah7's shop for a huge variety of "high quality, ridiculously cute handemade zipper pouches." She puts it so much better than I ever could! :)

Oh, and this morning I found some time to sew up a few more shorties. They'll be added to my shop later on today, but for now, I must tend to my hungry children.

If I only had a fence!

Oh, to have a fence for these boys to sit on for the pictures for this blog!

Terry's been blogging about Sacred Heart Saddlery today. She has said it much better than I. Hardly a day passes without me yearning for the days gone by in such a lovely setting! We spent Easter there, and Tim Shatraw made these belts for my boys.

Even if cowboy stuff is not your thing, every man needs a belt - order yours today! My hubby is a recent leather belt convert. He says he'll never wear another type of belt again!

A few of my favorite things...

Okay, so now that I've promised I would not be posting my favorite things until after Easter, I've found some time... go figure!

gemsbowtique is making these adorable kitten hats

nogginsnbobbins will crochet your little one a hat like this... free shipping!

elliefitz has this beautiful cable knit hat for your young 'un...

Who can resist a cupcake hat from artology?

And all kinds of beautiful things over at BabbidgePatch

Even in my house there aren't enough heads for all of the beautiful hats these sellers are making! Oh, to have a different hat to perfectly match every outfit I could ever put on one of my children. :)

Empty promises....

You're probably thinking I'm never going to show you those favorite shops. I will. I promise! Really! We're busy preparing for Easter. I'll probably not get to my favorite things until after Easter. In the mean time, I'll show you some more "homemade" hats....

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

oops!

didn't get to my favorite shops yesterday... sorry! a nice visit with great friends is much better than blogging. i did start my post, though. maybe i'll finish today?

another example of what my favorite etsy hats DON'T look like. the kid's got style, though. don't ya think?

Hats!

Today I'd like to find some time to show you some of my other favorite hat sellers on etsy.
That's later... right now it's time to feed the hungry mungries. Yesterday everybody had a bowl of cereal, then made myself some eggs... three of them because there's always somebody that needs to "share" my eggs with me. I sat down at the table (big mistake). I got three, "I want eggs!" Gave away the three eggs. Made three more eggs. Two more, "I want eggs!" and TWO "Can I have another?" ***Just in case you've lost track, that left me at a negative egg*** So I make three more... another, "Can I have more?"... I give away one and a half of the last the batch (yes, I was selfish and gave a, "Can I have more?" only a half an egg). That left me with an egg and a half to eat hiding IN THE KITCHEN.... just in case! It's a good thing they had already had breakfast. I may STILL be there cooking eggs!

One final picutre thought....

The thinking cap.

We're studying our shapes today.

(I promise the hats in my favorite etsy shops don't look like this one)

Busy busy busy

Okay, so I should have been trying to tidy up the house because they're coming (already have come and are in the process) to fix the ceiling in the laundry room today***, but instead I decided to take advantage of the SUNSHINE! We had a small photo shoot. Here's a sample of what we came up with.

My hand crocheted Easter bonnet listed here.

I thought it would be nice to include some of my favorite shops in my blog too. I'll start with deusprovidebit! My absolute favorite shop. :) Okay, so it's my mom's shop. So! I know she makes beautiful QUALITY things. How do I know? Anything that can stand the test of time in MY house with MY kids... it's gotta be good. Gramma Harv (as she's known around these parts) loves to knit, but has run out of heads (even with 25 grandchildren and several *adopted* ones) to put all of her hats on.... She'd love to make one for you!

Here's her youngest grandchild modeling a sample of Gramma Harv's Easter bonnet. The one listed is a slight different color, but just as beautiful! And what could be better than a matching cocoon??? This baby LIVES in her cocoon! Seriously!

And one last picture thought....

Have a nice day :P

***the washer upstairs so kindly leaked into our house

one handed here...

i've been sadly neglecting my blog and sewing machine, but i'm going to make an effort to change that. the newest little muchkin (now almost 7 weeks old) has had a drastic change in schedule as of late. we went from sleeping all the time (thank you for the nice recovery period) to "i like to sleep a lot in the day and fairly well in the important sleep hours for mom (the wee hours of the morning), BUT i like to stay up until.... oh... about 1 am or so" mode. guess that gives me more blogging time, right?
i'm not sure how much sewing time that'll give me, but i should be able to get in some crocheting time...
don't forget to check out my crocheted easter hats. perfect for your spring photo shoot! :)
i hate to type and run leaving this post photoless, but....
shhh......
she's sleeping!
